Etsy, our favorite online source for handmade and vintage fashion goodies, just published its “Trends to Watch” list for 2018. Assembled by Etsy trend expert Dayna Isom Johnson, these predictions are based on “what sellers are creating, what shoppers are loving, and what’s hot right now in the wider market.” Here’s the list:
* In Decor, Johnson is expecting to see a rise in popularity of wabi-sabi in imperfection with textures and shapes. “An ancient Japanese worldview centered on impermanence and imperfection, wabi-sabi is the perfectly imperfect.”
* In Jewelry, watch for choker necklaces and mix-and-match earrings. “This year, the choker will undergo a revamp, from the minimalist, slim styles of the last few years to more playful statement pieces.”
* In Wedding Fashion, the Etsy trend expert is predicting that jumpsuits will make some waves this year. “Working with shapes from the tuxedo-inspired to the romper-ish, everyone from the bride to the flower girl can skip the skirt and still stand out.”
* In Colors, we can expect to see lots of the shade called Ultra Violet. Also Pantone’s Color of 2018, the hue is a deep purple color that pops. “The color is sure to show up across all categories in abundance, and the Etsy community is already getting in on the party.”
