The appearance of the white Alexander McQueen gown at the Oscars was actually the silent payoff to a joke she made in her SNL monologue in November: “It’s a $4,000 dress; I’m going to wear this dress multiple times,” she said before launching into a long list of places she’d wear it, including her wedding, your wedding, and her funeral.
