Mindy Kaling describes how the Emmys discriminated against her for her work on The Office. She opened up about the experience in Elle magazine’s Women in Hollywood issue. The Office was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series and the Academy told her she would be cut from the list because there were too many producers on the show. “They made me, not any of the other producers, fill out a whole form and write an essay about all my contributions as a writer and a producer,” the actress told ELLE. “I had to get letters from all the other male, white producers saying that I had contributed, when my actual record stood for itself.”
Matt Lauer denies the rape allegations made against him in Ronan Farrow’s new book, Catch and Kill. According to Variety Brooke Nevils claims that Lauper raped her in his hotel room at the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Her complaint against Lauer led to his firing in 2017 . Her identify and details of her allegations were not made public until now. On Wednesday, Lauer said in a letter to Variety that the accusation is “categorically false, ignores the facts, and defies common sense.” He called the encounter an “extramarital affair.”
