It has long been a debate on the way you are supposed to say the word “data”. It can be pronounced as either dādə, with a hard ‘a’, or dadə, with a soft ‘a’. Well accordingly to Brent Spiner the actor responsible for portraying Star Trek: The Next Generation’s famous droid with the same name it might be thanks to star ship captain Patrick Stewart for how most of us say the word. In an interview recorded at this year’s Big Apple Comic Con Spiner shared a story about one of there first gatherings of the STNG cast and how Stewart coined the droid’s name in a table read.
