In 1973, David Bowie gave his final performance as Ziggy Stardust, and then threw such a raging after-party that we are still talking about it to this day. The retirement party was dubbed “The Last Supper,” and that seems fitting for how many big names attended: Mick Jagger, Lou Reed, Paul McCartney, Barbra Streisand, Sonny Bono… The list goes on. But those of us who WEREN’T (ahem) in attendance at the original bash can take in the experience at the new Ziggy’s cocktail room in the Hotel Café Royal in London. “Evocative of the spirit and splendour of this night, Ziggy’s pays homage to the late great Bowie, 45 years on,” says the website. “The cocktail list is an eclectic mix of classic cocktails reinvented and Bowie’s favoured tipples, all served with lots of glam and a sprinkling of rock n roll.” The bar also features a “curated gallery of intimate portraits of David Bowie by his long standing photographer and friend Mick Rock.” Ziggy’s opens September 20.
