Jerry Bruckheimer told People that Tom Cruise fought to make sure that Val Kilmer was part of the Top Gun sequel. “[Tom] said, ‘We have to have Val, we have to have him back. We have to have him in the film,’” Bruckheimer said. “And he was the driving force. We all wanted him, but Tom was really adamant that if he’s going to make another ‘Top Gun,’ Val had to be in it.” Specifics on Kilmer’s return as Iceman remain under wraps.
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are officially empty nesters. The couple’s youngest child Joaquin is off to the University of Michigan. Ripa share a selfie of herself and her husband looking out of sorts. She captioned the photo, “”So far we are crushing this empty nest thing.” The couple have three children together.
Ed Asner, who is best known for his portrayal of newsman Lou Grant on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and later on his own series, died on Sunday morning at the age of 91. According to his publicist he was surrounded by family in Los Angeles when he passed away. Asner won five of his seven Emmy Awards for playing Lou Grant. He also won Emmys for his work in the mini-series “Rich Man, Poor Man” and “Roots.” Asner is also known to a new generation of fans as Santa Claus in Elf and the voice of Carl Fredricksen in the film Up.
