JOAQUIN PHOENIX is PETA’S 2019 PERSON OF THE YEAR

Joaquin Phoenix has been named PETA’s 2019 Person of the Year. “Joaquin Phoenix never misses an opportunity to turn the spotlight away from himself and onto animals’ plight and to set a great example of walking the vegan walk,” PETA president Ingrid Newkirk said in a statement.

Billy Dee Williams revealed that he is gender fluid in an interview with Esquire. “I never tried to be anything except myself. I think of myself as a relatively colorful character who doesn’t take himself or herself too seriously,” Williams told the magazine. “And you see I say ‘himself’ and ‘herself,’ because I also see myself as feminine as well as masculine.”

Questlove will make his directorial debut with Black Woodstock. The documentary will focus on the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival. The outdoor festival featured Stevie Wonder, B.B. King, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Sly and the Family Stone and the 5th Dimension among others. The documentary will feature never-before -seen footage that was shot but TV producer Hal Tulchin . “I was stunned when I saw the lost footage for the first time.  It’s incredible to look at 50 years of history that’s never been told,  and I’m eager and humbled to tell that story,” Questlove said in a statement.
