James Corden opened the Tony Awards on Sunday night with a dedication to the victims of the Orlando shooting. “On behalf of the whole theater community and every person in this room our hearts go out to all of those affected by this atrocity,” Corden said as he opened the show. “All we can say is you are not on your own right now. Your tragedy is our tragedy.” Many of the winners referenced the horrible events that happened earlier in the day.
Selena Gomez, Kesha and Fifth Harmony are among the performers who remembered Christina Grimmie on stage after The Voice singer’s death. Gomez had a personal connection to the singer, her stepfather Brian Teffey was Grimmie’s longtime manager. Gomez broke down in tears on stage in Miami while she was remembering her friend.
Lil Wayne reportedly suffered two seizures on his private jet. According to TMZ the plane was traveling to California when the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing in Omaha when Wayne blacked out. The rapper reportedly refused medical treatment and took back off in the plane only to suffer another seizure and have to land again. He is currently being treated at a hospital.
