Zooey Deschanel and her husband Jacob Pechenik just launched a startup company that aims to help people grow their own herbs and vegetables in an urban environment. “With Lettuce Grow, we are committed to inspiring people to develop a new, more healthy relationship with the food they eat. We want to preserve the environment for future generations and to help create a better food system for all of us,” the pair said on their website (HERE). The company offers a device called the Farmstand, which is a self-watering and self-fertilizing tower, to grow your herbs and veggies. Then they also offer the option to join as a member, which means they send you seedlings every month based on your preferences, as well as recipes to use what you’ve grown.

Vanessa Hudgens just launched her very first line of activewear clothing, with fitness company Avia.
“I think that there’s nothing better than walking into a workout class already feeling confident, and the way to do that is to be wearing something that you feel really good in. I was like, ‘I should just make my own designs and make stuff that I would want to wear.’ And it’s exactly that,” Vanessa told POPSUGAR. “It’s perfect for everyday activities and also perfect for just lounging around. It’s stylish and it’s cool, and I’m really excited about it.”

Rihanna’s indie flick with Childish Gambino just dropped!
Donald Glover, who performs under the stage name Childish Gambino, announced before his set at Coachella this weekend that he’d be dropping his NEW movie with Rihanna for free on Amazon Prime streaming. Aside from a short trailer (HERE), almost everything about the movie had previously been kept a secret – so fans are understandably VERY excited to finally watch the finished product.

Apparently, Ariana’s company GrandAri Inc. has just filed for a trademark under the title, “Ariana Grande Thank U, Next.” According to WWD, “The trademark is filed for a number of beauty products, including fragrances — eau de cologne, eau de parfum and eau de toilette — body lotions, bath gels, body scrubs and body mists, among others.” So NOT ONLY can we enjoy her new single “Monopoly” with her best friend Victoria Monét, but we can ALSO start dreaming about drenching ourselves in “Thank U, Next” beauty products. Bose announced that its Bose Frames will be sporting some new technology at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. Festivalgoers who use the official Coachella smartphone app will be able to access new features that unlock special audio content for the Bose Frames – making this the first time Bose Frames and Bose AR will be integrated into a music festival. The new augmented reality content will include reminders for upcoming performances, real-time festival updates, and other helpful notifications. “We’re proud to see this exclusive content made available through Bose AR at Coachella,” said Crystal MacKenzie, head of marketing at Bose AR. “Fans who pair their Bose Frames with the app while attending the show will be able to spend more time looking up and seeing what’s going on around them, while accessing information that will help make their experience even better.”

H&M is set to start selling second-hand clothing
H&M’s head of sustainability told Reuters today that the company is planning to launch a pilot program to sell second-hand garments in Sweden under its & Other Stories brand. “We see this as a growing part of the industry, with great opportunities both for consumers and not least for the environmental impact, and how we can drastically reduce that by extending the life of the products,” said Anna Gedda.
H&M seems to be responding to the movement against fast fashion, which has been gathering momentum. H&M also participates in a garment recycling program, where their stores collect used textiles of all kinds and in all conditions in exchange for 15% off coupons. Then those textiles are sent to be sorted by hand and either marketed for re-use, converted into other products like rags, or broken down into fibers to manufacture new products.
